Constantinides and incorporated in the State of Illinois as LLC, BPDDC provides  strategic, technical and business development consulting in drug delivery technology and drug product development of New Molecule Entities (NMEs) and life cycle management of approved drugs, small molecules and biologics.


Dr. Constantinides is a biopharmaceutical and drug delivery scientist, entrepreneur, seasoned research and development executive and experienced consultant with strong academic credentials, broad experience and successful track record in academia, start-up, development stage and established biotech/pharma companies. He has made significant contributions to marketed drug products and in development.

Panayiotis P. Constantinides, Ph.D, is the Founder and President of Biopharmaceutical and Drug Delivery Consulting, LLC in Gurnee, Illinois, providing strategic and technical consulting to biotech and pharmaceutical companies on drug delivery technologies, formulation and product development for small molecules and macromolecules. Other consulting services include expert witness in patent litigation cases. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of development stage companies. From 2001-2004 he was Vice President of Research and Development first with DOR BioPharma (formerly known as Endorex Corporation), a biopharmaceutical company in Lake Forest, Illinois and later with Morton Grove Pharmaceuticals, a generic pharmaceutical company in Morton Grove, Illinois. From 1997 to 2000, he was Director of Research at SONUS Pharmaceuticals in Bothell, Washington and from 1987 to 1997 he held a number of Research and Development positions of increasing responsibilities with LipoGen Inc. in Knoxville Tennessee, SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals, King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, and the Pharmaceutical Products Division of Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago, Illinois.  He is currently Affiliate Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Roosevelt University, College of Pharmacy, Schaumburg, Illinois and he has held adjunct faculty positions with the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and the University of Washington in Seattle. He is affiliated with the University of Wisconsin, Extension Services in Pharmacy as faculty and planning committee member of the June Land O’ Lakes Pharmaceutical Conference since 1995 and Professor in-charge of the annual short course on Nanoparticles: Applications in Drug Formulation and Delivery that was established in 2007. He served as faculty of the Biotechnology Entrepreneurship Boot Camp at the annual BIO International Convention. He is frequent reviewer for peer-reviewed biomedical and pharmaceutical journals and serves as Editor of AAPS Open since its launch in 2015. He received a University Diploma in Chemistry from Athens University in 1977 and Ph.D in Biochemistry from Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island in 1983. He was a postdoctoral fellow in the Pharmacology Department (1983-1985) and Associate Research Scientist in the Comprehensive Cancer Center (1985-1987) of Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven, Connecticut. He is the recipient of various fellowships for academic excellence during his undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral studies and other employment and service awards and recognitions.

​Dr. Constantinides has spearheaded the development of proprietary technologies for oral small molecule and macromolecule drug delivery and parenteral drug solubilization and targeting and these technologies have been integrated into the product portfolios of emerging and established organizations. He is inventor/co-inventor of 37 patents and patent applications and has authored more than 130 publications and presentations on the physicochemical and biopharmaceutical aspects of lipid-based drug delivery systems for delivering small molecule and macromolecule drugs and on biomedical applications of nanomaterials and nanoparticles. His more than 30 years of drug delivery and product development experience with both marketed drugs and New Molecule Entities (NMEs) for a variety of disease indications, include strategic and commercial evaluations and drug  delivery technology /drug product assessments. He has been invited speaker and program organizer and moderator at many national and international conferences and universities. Dr. Constantinides is AAPS Fellow, Past Chair of the Formulation Design and Development Section (FDD) of the AAPS and Past-Chair of the Lipid-Based Drug Delivery Systems and the Nanotechnology Focus Group.  He has also been active with the BIO and local iBIO and Nanotechnology associations and served on program committees and as a regular speaker at various events sponsored by these organizations. He is actively involved with patent filing, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, organizing scientific meetings and short courses and presenting to investors, boards, scientific and business communities. He has a global perspective and worldwide network of business and scientific contacts and collaborators.
